Enjoy the Free Daley Plaza Farmers Market Every Thursday

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the free Chicago Farmers Markets and downtown folks wander over to Daley Plaza every Thursday to buy flowers, food and other fresh products from local gardens.  The free Daley Plaza Farmers Market is open every Thursday from May 14 to Oct 15, 2009 and is perfect for anyone who works downtown or who takes the CTA.  It provides direct access to over seventy vendors providing the highest quality fruits, vegetables and fresh cut flowers to the neighborhoods of Chicago. It doesn’t always have the meat and fish selection you can generally find at the Green City Market in Lincoln Park, but everything else is a testament to the bounty of the growing seasons. Blackcurrants, golden currants, currants, rhubarb, gooseberries, raspberries, blackberries, black raspberries, blueberries, plums – just a fraction of the awesome fruit available during the late spring and summer months.

An anchor of the city’s 29-year-old program (along with Daley Plaza), this market draws vendors from the four-state area selling produce, flowers, honey, cheese, bread and baked goods, and plants.

Sears Tower (233 S Wacker Dr. ) – Thursday from 7am to 3pm

Opening up the opportunity for citizens to get farm fresh fruits and vegetables as well as flowers, artisan breads and numerous other delicious product.
