On July 4, head on down to Navy Pier for its Fourth of July Free Fireworks at 9:00 p.m. This extended fireworks show will light up the Lake Michigan sky to a heartfelt patriotic soundtrack. Its best if you get here early and enjoy all that Navy Pier has to offer during the day, then stay for the free fireworks.

As we celebrate Independence Day, grab some friends and family and head down to the Taste of Chicago for the spectacular free fireworks show on July 3 on the lakefront. Things will get started at the Petrillo Music Shell at 7:30 pm, when the the 85th Army Band will warm up the crowds with their harmonious sound. Don’t forget to bring your radio to the free fireworks show, because the soundtrack is being simulcast on 101.9 THE MIX
Looking for some free fun events with your kids that include musical entertainment? Then check out the Dancin’ Sprouts program at the Chicago Botanic Gardenthat provides a free concert for children. It is part of the “Summer Evenings at the Garden” program and is offered on the first and third Wednesdays of June, July, and August, with performances at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
For those of you looking to cool off with your kids, here is a great free ice skating deal. At RinkSide Sports, which runs the Gurnee Mills Ice Rink, they have brought back the summer special, which states that”if the temperature is forecasted or reaches 85 degrees or more in Gurnee, public skating sessions & skate rental are FREE on Mondays though Thursdays! (Excludes holidays & special events).
Come to the free Legends for Youth Kids Clinic at Triton College presented by Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association! The Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association offers free baseball clinics for kids. Age range for participants (boys & girls) is 6-15. This year at Taste of Chicago, Eli’s will bake up a giant 1,000 pound Original Plain Cheesecake topped with marzipan cherries the size of baseballs to be served for free at Taste of Chicago’s and Eli’s 24th birthday party on Saturday, June 26th at 1:00 p.m. at Buckingham Fountain. Look for the tent and banner that reads “The Big Cake Is Here.”

KIDS – FREE MEALS: Now through Sept. 4, Chicago residents 18 years of age or younger can access free nutritional meals at more than 200 locations around the city through the Summer Nutrition Program. The annual program serves to supplement the school meal service, which provides economically disadvantaged youth with free or price-reduced meals during the school year.

FREE EVENT: Calling all families! Head on over to the Chase Pavilion in Millenium Park for the free Circus Carnival Week, July 6-12. In the Family Fun Activity Zone, families can take part in hands-on craft projects, garden and science activities with some of the regions’ most popular museums and cultural organizations. Be a juggler, try out stilt walking or paint your face like a clown! Over the weekend, take part in the Great Performers of Illinois Festival, meet Abraham Lincoln and celebrate all things Illinois!
