All year long, the Old Town School of Folk Music focuses on educating, honoring, and presenting American and International artistic traditions and styles. The annual Folk & Roots Festival is a great opportunity to take the School out for a weekend walk in Welles Park and to invite all of Chicago to join in the celebration.
The 2009 full festival line up has been announced, and boy what a line up it is! The Main Stage is packed with the finest international and local artists including the mighty R&B sounds of Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears on Saturday and Karsh Kale and Mainline’s fusion of Indian classical music and electronica on Sunday.
Swing by the Dance Tent and join in one of the many diverse workshops from Tango to Bhangra, Hip Hop to Hula and much more. Drop by the Gazebo with your guitar and then stop by the Staff Stage where our distinguished teaching faculty will be strutting their stuff. Grab a
bite to eat from one of the vendors along Lincoln Avenue on your way to check out Nuestra Música: Latino Chicago then bring the young ones by the Kids Tent for some rocking fun and clever craft making. This year’s festival promises to be one of the best ever, so mark your calendars and see you in July!
