For those of you looking to cool off with your kids, here is a great free ice skating deal. At RinkSide Sports, which runs the Gurnee Mills Ice Rink, they have brought back the summer special, which states that “if the temperature is forecasted or reaches 85 degrees or more in Gurnee, public skating sessions & skate rental are FREE on Mondays though Thursdays! (Excludes holidays & special events).
While its a ways up there from the city of Chicago, it is a great way to stay cool and make a day (and maybe get some discount shopping done – there is a Bass Pro Shop right there!).
