Take a break from your busy work day downtown and join the Freedom Museum for a free lunchtime discussion on July 13th with renowned political commentator and author Cokie Roberts. Cokie Roberts is a New York Times bestselling author, political commentator for ABC news, senior analyst for National Public Radio – and a mother, grandmother, and daughter.
In the tenth anniversary revised and expanded edition of We Are Our Mothers’ Daughters, Roberts adds fascinating new profiles to illustrate the unique opportunities and challenges that women face today, how far the women’s movement has come, and how far it has to go. Join in as she discusses her insights and observations, and recounts in person the illuminating, surprising and sometimes humorous stories found in her book.
Looking to the future, Roberts focuses on the question of “What next?” exploring how several women, including herself, have begun to define themselves in the next stages of their life. Together, these intimate portraits become a springboard for more extensive and pointed discussions of women’s issues, such as women’s positions in politics, business, motherhood, and marriage.
