While the summer is half over, there are lots of things that we recommend as top picks for free things to do in Chicago with kids to make the summer a success.

The Beach Poets series originally in residence at North Avenue Beach now takes place Sunday afternoons at Loyola Beach.
- Wet your feet in Crown Fountain. If you want to go and be 
entertained with video sculpture interactivity and escape the heat this summer, visit the Crown Fountain in Millenium Park. Unlike any other work of art, it consist of unique features such as water, light, and video technology. The fountain is considered as a public play area where kids and adult alike frolic around the fountain’s water. There are always kids splashing in the cool water, having such fun. -The Grant Park Music Festival completes its season on late August at Millennium Park. Pack a picnic dinner and hear the nation’s only remaining free outdoor classical music series.
-Go fly a kite. Cricket Hill at Montrose Harbor is a grassy plateau which is said to be the highest point on the city’s lake shore and an ideal location 
for wind “obstruction-free—far from buildings, trees and, most importantly, power lines,” says Time Out Chicago’s Jake Malooley. Or try Columbia Beach Park also on the city’s northside.

This beautiful library is located at State Street and Congress Parkway You will be glad to know that Harold Washington Library has made its name in the Guinness Book of World records for being the World’s Largest Public Library. The library possesses world class books on- Literature, fiction, non-fiction, children’s books and many more. This Library also has educational CDs, DVDs and music CDS to offer. The Library also has a 385-seat auditorium, an exhibit hall, a video theater and meeting rooms. It would be wonderful to visit this library.
