Free Science LabFests This Friday and Saturday




Life’s a lab…with amazing science all around us. Get your “wow” on and get into it with hands-on science fun at tons of local parks, neighborhood libraries and dozens of FREE fabulous science LabFests across the region all summer long. This week’s two free Science Chicago LabFests offer chances to learn about space exploration and technology, bubbleology and chromatography among many other science-related topics.

At Friday’s free LabFest (July 24), to be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Humboldt Park, 1400 North Sacramento, participants can   put their hand and maybe their whole body in a giant bubble, and learn the science of bubbleology. They can also build your own LEGO Mindstorm NXT robot. Then you’ll program that robot to complete tasks that are aligned to current NASA robotic missions! science chicago Free Science LabFests This Friday and SaturdayDo you think your robot will be ready to take on the challenge of exploring the Moon, Mars or space? They will also discuss NASA’s robotic missions with scientists and educators. Here is a list of the activities that will be offered at Friday’s free Science Chicago LabFest – Humbolt Park

At Saturday’s free LabFest (July 25), to be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Morton Grove at Harrer Park, 6250 Dempster, participants can learn the principles of chromatography behind marker art. They can also learn about ways that humans continue to reach out beyond Earth’s atmosphere to explore the universe. “Science Chicago’s goal has been to help establish the critical value of science and math education in order to continue to inspire the next generation of innovation,” said David Mosena, President and CEO of the Museum of Science and Industry and Vice Chair of the Science Chicago Board of Advisors, in a press release on July 8.
