Check out the best sand castle builders and sand sculpturists at the city of Evanston’s free Sand Castle and Sand Sculpture Contest from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday July 13 at Clark Street Beach, 1811 Sheridan Road. Come to watch, build an ornate castle, or maybe you are more interested in a sand sculpture. Prizes will be awarded, including largest castle, best family effort, etc. Although the contest is free, participants should preregister by Sunday by calling (847) 866-4167. Beach admission fees apply to nonresidents; Clark Street Beach is free to residents on Mondays.
