Oktoberfest is coming to Chicago … Beer, Bands, & Brats… YES! While not free ($5 donation goes to St Alphonsus for programs), come and join the bands on September 25 – 27, 2009 for beer, brats, music and fun at St. Alphonsus’ Annual Oktoberfest, one of the original premier festivals in Chicago with free concerts, free music and more. Located in the South Lakeview neighborhood, St. Alphonsus was founded by German immigrants in 1882, and continues to recognize its German roots by celebrating an authentic Oktoberfest every September.
Keeping with tradition, festival-goers can expect to experience homemade bratwurst, the “oom-pah” of German bands, the music of top area headliner bands, activities for kids (“Kinderfest”), and of course lots of great beer! Our festival will be held outdoors in a beer garden fashion under a ‘big-top’ tent. Thousands from Chicago of all ages attend and raise their stein to toast this German past time.
Don’t miss this traditional celebration and be sure to bring your appetite. We promise to quench your thirst and provide you with hours of interactive entertainment in the true spirit of a G erman Oktoberfest. Admission of $5 benefit St. Alphonsus church.
The hours of this festival are Friday, September 25th from 5 pm to 10 pm, Saturday, September 26th from noon to 10 pm, and Sunday, September 27th from noon to 9 pm. For more information call StarEvents at (773)-665-4682.
