Our great city of Chicago showcases the best of international music at the free 11th Annual World Music Festival: Chicago 2009, occurring in sites around the city from Friday, September 18 through Thursday, September 24, 2009. The multi-venue, one-week free concert festival, showcases both traditional and contemporary music from diverse cultures across the world. The 2009 festival line-up will feature 55 events at 21 venues. Many events are free and family friendly. Events include live radio broadcasts and a mix of free and ticketed concerts presented in museums, parks, cultural centers, plazas, theaters, music stores, clubs and other venues throughout Chicago. The grand finale of the event occurs on Thursday, Sept 24th at the Chicago Cultural Center from 6 PM to 11 PM. Admission to the grand evening of music is free and open to the public. The Chicago Cultural Center is located at 78 E. Washington Street in Chicago.
One World Under One Roof features a diverse variety of free music presented by musicians from India, Coratia, Poland, Brazil, Irag, Bulgaria and America. Free Concerts take place throughout the entire building in the Randolph Café, Preston Bradley Hall, and Claudia Cassidy Theater. The Café at the Cultural Center, which will remain open until 9 pm, will serve salads, sandwiches, soups and sweets.
