Come out to the Oriental Institute Museum for a free pre-Halloween celebration for a “tomb-full” of family fun! Get up close and personal with a real historical mummy, discover ancient painted coffins and a Book of the Dead, and view “Mummies Made in Egypt,” an award-winning children’s film from the Reading Rainbow series. Try on an outfit from King Tut’s closet, take a museum treasure hunt, and enter the “Guess the Mummy Lollipops” contest. Recommended for children ages 5 and up accompanied by an adult.

About the Oriental Institute Museum
Exhibitions: The newly redesigned museum presents a 40-ton sculpture from Assyria, a 17-foot tall statue of King Tut and much more. See more than 4500 artifacts in the galleries. The temporary exhibit gallery offers two special exhibits annually.

Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, 10 am-6 pm; Wednesdays: 10am -8:30 pm; Sundays, noon- 6:00 pm. Closed Monday and major holidays.

Education: The Institute also offers a full range of activities for families and adults, from lectures to family-friendly tours, and a free film on the ancient Middle East every Sunday at 2pm. The Suq, Arabic for “market,” stocks a fabulous array of books, jewelry and gifts from and about the Middle East.
