If you’re like us here at Free Chicago, you are hoping to do most of your holiday shopping online so that you don’t end up in some store at 10pm on Christmas Eve.  There are lots of deal sites out there to do your online shopping so we want to give you a free summary of online deal sites.  We know the fine line between smart online bargain-hunting and driving yourself crazy with too much information. Some tools that are supposedly crafted to help you find the best deals often make us slog through organized data that is time-consuming. The challenge is to make your ‘mousework’ pay off without requiring all of your waking hours for the foreseeable future. Here’s a collection of some of the best deal sites for you to peruse this Christmas season. (If you can add to this list, PLEASE comment and help our huge number of readers):

Deal Shopping Sitesbest-deal-sites

  • OverstockThis is the reigning champ in bargain sites, thanks to the breadth of its merchandise and the great prices. Overstock specializes in hawking excess merchandise from other retailers, which means their inventory is diverse and constantly changing.
  • DealsPlus is much like the other popular deal finders listed but with a twist: It integrates social bookmarking features à la Digg or Delicious to help the most popular deals rise to the top. DealsPlus users submit deals and vote on the submitted deals they like; popular deals make the DealsPlus home page
  • Smartbargains.comThis is another general discount site, where you’ll find deals on everything from clothing and MP3 players to diamond earrings.
  • Delight Deals – this one from the delight network is for the ladies!
  • Woot – Features one deal every day.
  • PriceGrabber is a comparison shopping web site that searches and compares prices from popular online retailers to bring you the lowest price available price. Apart from the simple search, PriceGrabber supports Price Alerts and rates products based on expert and user reviews.
  • Dealnews is a popular deal finder “where every day is Black Friday.” In contrast to the blog-like style of Slickdeals, the Dealnews front page organizes deals by category. While Dealnews has a clear emphasis on tech, it’s no slouch when it comes to covering other categories, like clothing, home, and toys.
  • FatWallet is a popular deal-finding web site that aims to help you maintain a healthily plump wallet. Probably best known for it’s active community of prudent spenders, FatWallet is an excellent resource for saving money online and off.  The fatwallet community has a real knack for finding great deals and spreading the news through the forums.  As deal finders go, FatWallet doesn’t do the same front page style as sites like Dealnews or Slickdeals, but if you do a little digging, you can find plenty of great deal streams
  • TechBargains – blog of bargains for tech stuff.
  • Ben’s Bargains – blog, a majority of it is electronics, but he also lists other things like tools, clothes, and kitchen stuff.
  • SlickDeals – is a comprehensive deal-finding web site with an active user community dedicated to scouring the web for great deals. Slickdeals posts deals in a blog-like format, providing a uncategorized and steady stream of deals on their home page covering the gamut from tech to toys and clothing to appliances
  • DealMouse – A nice deal blog – mostly electronics.
  • DealCatcher – blog with lots of different stuff, majority is probably electronics.
  • digg.com/deals – digg the social news site can do a good job of finding which deals are good
  • Mighty Goods – blog, not everything is on sale, but points for an elegant design, and cool name.
  • AntiRebate – like deals, but hate rebates? then this blog is for you.
  • AnandTech Forums – Hot deals forum has lots of deals for computer stuff.
  • deallog – deal blog from the 9rules network.
  • XPbargains.com – We like the ability to search by store to find a coupon.
  • Gottadeal.com
  • Bradsdeals.com
