Get more information.
Tesla Motors’ goal is to produce increasingly affordable cars to mainstream buyers – relentlessly driving down the cost of Electric Vehicles.
San Carlos, Calif.-based Tesla sells cars online and has delivered about 900 Roadsters to customers, with more than 50 owners in Chicago. Tesla operates galleries in California’s Silicon Valley and Los Angeles; New York; Seattle; Boulder, Colorado; London and Munich as well as the new Chicago Tesla store.
The Chicago store is part of a collaboration with the City of Chicago and the Chicago Area Clean Cities Coalition and Gas Technology Institute, which together received a US Department of Energy 2009 Clean Cities Petroleum Reduction Technologies grant. The Tesla Motors company achieved overall corporate profitability in July, thanks to strong demand for the Roadster. The all-electric sports car is faster than Porsche 911 or Audi R8 yet is six times as efficient as conventional sports cars. Tesla services cars in its galleries and through “house calls” so owners can enjoy hassle-free service without leaving their home or office.
After taking your free test drive, you should know that any Chicago Roadster customers are eligible for a $7,500 federal tax credit as well as a $4,000 rebate through the Illinois Alternate Fuels Rebate Program. Tesla also plans to offer “house calls” by deploying Tesla Rangers, technicians who will travel to customers’ homes to perform annual inspections, firmware upgrades, and other services. The service is designed to give consumers peace of mind.
Tesla’s Roadster Sport uses no gasoline and has an acceleration speed of 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. The vehicle charges over night, giving drivers roughly 240 miles of driving and requires less routine maintenance than conventional vehicles. The Roadster doesn’t require regular oil changes or exhaust system work and has no spark plugs, pistons, belts, hoses, or clutches to replace. All these advances will save owners time and money on upkeep and the lack of tailpipe emissions will also free drivers from annual smog checks. Tesla is based in San Carlos, California, and has showrooms in South Florida, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Boulder, South Florida, London, Munich and Monaco.
