We are always on the lookout for Free Things to Do in Chicago, but free meals at good Chicago restaurants are rare. However, we get the word out to our faithful readers when restaurants give good deals for the hard-working folks in Chicago. Now, with local independent restaurants, who have banded together under the banner of the Chicago Originals, hosting a Restaurant Week, Dining Chicago is pointing out that there are lots of restaurants that will be offering a $29.10 meal in 2010. While not free, Chicago Originals will celebrate Restaurant Week, January 18-31, 2010 when member restaurants create special, 3 and 4-course menus for only $29.10.  Guests taking advantage of this special week will enjoy discounted menus by 35 percent which offer, local, fancy and delightful preparations by restaurants located throughout the city and suburbs. Some restaurants will also offer great bottles of wine for $29.10! Enjoy these wonderful discounts at such fine restaurants as Cafe Bernard, Cyrano’s Bistrot, Dinotto, Hemmingway’s and some new members such as Le Titi De Paris, Bistrot Bourdeux, O’Brien’s, Restaurant Michael, and Co-Si-Na-Grill.

The ChicagoOriginals exists to promote dining in local independent area restaurants, to provide diners with a unique local flavor and to raise awareness of independent restaurants in Chicago and its suburbs.  Local restaurants like local bookstores, hardware stores and coffee shops support their communities. The dollars spent in local restaurants stay in Chicago and local restaurants support vital local charities. Passionate individuals develop local restaurants. These individuals are driven by a desire to offer something unique and exciting both to our local patrons and to the guests who visit our city.  The Originals believe that a vibrant, independent restaurant community makes our city a better place to live. A vibrant local restaurant community increases a city’s culinary and cultural strength. Chicago and its suburbs is a city with a unique flavor, a flavor we can all be proud of. Local restaurants ensure that this local flavor continues to be delivered. It is our hope that you take a moment to think about this important issue and support all those things that make Chicago and its suburbs unique, a source of pride and, above all, a great city to live in.
