Come out in February 2010 for the free Chicago Winter Dance festival taking place in Millennium Park throughout the month of February. Bring the kids down to learn the basics of ice skating and play free interactive games on the ice during free family-friendly sessions open to all ages and skill levels. Weekend nights offer ice dancing performances, live DJ sets and extended ice rink hours. You can even take free dance lessons behind the glass doors on the Jay Pritzker Pavilion stage, so here is you chance to learn steppin’, tango, swing, country line dancing, world/folk, ballroom and Cajun dance during one-hour lessons followed by open dancing indoors. Admission is free, but space is limited and doors open 30 minutes before the lessons begin.

Ice Skating Lessons at the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink. Saturdays and Sundays, February 6 – 28. Beginner lessons, 8 – 8:30 am and 9 – 9:30 am. Intermediate lessons, 8:30 am – 9 am and 9:30 am – 10 am. Skaters of all ages and skill levels welcome.
Late Night Ice Dance Parties, Ice Dancing Demonstrations, and Extended Rink Hours for Public Skating. Fridays and Saturdays, February 5 – February 27 from 7 – 11 pm. Ice Dancing Demonstrations at 7, 8:30 and 10 pm. Each night features a different theme and type of music. For example, Saturday, February 6th is a tribute to Michael Jackson and the 1980′s and Saturday, February 13th will feature love songs in honor of Valentine’s Day.
Dance Lessons and Dancing in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. Saturdays and Sundays, February 6 -28. Visitors will be offered one hour dance lessons followed by open dancing behind the glass doors on the Pritzker Stage. Music will be broadcast through the speakers on the trellis of the Great Lawn so that even those strolling through the Park can enjoy the sights and sounds of dancing on the Pritzker Stage. Admission is free but space is limited. Doors open 30 minutes before the lessons begin. Early arrival is recommended.
