Mark your calendars for next year’s free lunch. Some hungry Chicago customers got a free lunch during a Groundhog Day promotion at South Water Kitchen, a restaurant in the downtown Chicago Loop. According to manager David Friday, the Kitchen hosted its fifth annual Groundhog Day promotion Tuesday, which offers customers the chance to eat lunch for free– if they can stand to sit outside.
The restaurant, located near the corner of Wabash and Wacker downtown in Chicago’ s Loop, was offering a free lunch at three seating opportunities Tuesday at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Reservations were required. Friday says the spots were all taken as early as 8:30 a.m.
In all, about 28 people were expected to enjoy lunch on the house Tuesday. South Water Kitchen will do it all again next Groundhog Day so makr your calendards for a free lunch!.
