The Chicago Park District kicks off the 10th annual free “Movies in the Parks” with about 170 screenings of current and classic movies in more than 120 citywide parks from June 18 – Sept. 10, so grab the kids, your lawn chairs, break out the wine and cheese, and watch some classic movies outdoors in your own neighborhood.
Admission is free, and all movies begin at dusk weather permitting. Patrons can now call the Movies in the Parks hotline for daily listings and updated weather-related cancellations at 312-742-1134. Several of this year’s selections include screenings of The Blind Side, Transformers 2, Twilight:New Moon, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Goonies, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. : The Extra Terrestrial, Where the Wild Things Are and The Wedding Singer. The Chicago Park District’s Movies in the Park series provides community residents with free, outdoor film entertainment at citywide neighborhood parks. The Park District encourages Chicagoans to grab a picnic basket and a blanket to enjoy the Movies in the Parks program this summer.
