In an effort to bring the City of Chicago’s Independence Day celebration to even more neighborhoods, the NEW Chicago Fourth of July fireworks show on Sunday July 4 features displays on Chicago’s north and south sides, in addition to downtown. There will be NO traditional July 3 Independence Eve fireworks presentation in the downtown area and there will be NO Saturday, July 3 fireworks at Navy Pier.
Rather, three simultaneous fireworks shows will light up the lakefront at three separate locations, including Navy Pier on Sunday, July 4. Navy Pier will launch downtown’s fireworks at 9 p.m. on July 4. Simultaneous fireworks shows will launch on the north side lakefront, with prime viewing from Foster to Montrose, and on the south side lakefront, with prime viewing from 63rd Street to Promontory Point.

What about neighborhood shows? How can I find out about those?
I am very disappointed in Chicago, I have lived here my whole life. I was looking for something to do this weekend in the neighborhood. But could only find downtown stuff, lake front stuff, and out of the Chicago area stuff, what’s wrong with putting the neighborhood events on the link. Not everybody likes the big crowd thing, or we have done them enough times that we are looking for other things to do. Chicago is MORE than downtown, there’s a lot more to Chicago.
