Three Free Movie Screenings Tonight in Chicago – June 15

If you are a movie buff, then maybe one of these three great free movies in Chicago will tickle your fancy tonight. First, if you are a sports enthusiast, you might want to head to the Chicago History Museum Park tonight (THIS ONE CANCELED DUE TO RAIN) to see A League of their Own, starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Madonna, and Rosie O’Donnell. This movie has some scenes shot in Chicagoland area, including Wrigley Field, the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois and Walter Harvey’s invitation to Jimmy Dugan to manage the Peaches, which was filmed at Cantigny Park in Wheaton, IL. The mansion in the scene formerly belonged to Robert McCormick, editor of the Chicago Tribune. The movie starts at dusk. State Street, 60605.  Last but not least, venture down to Cinema / Chicago, who presents a free screening of Themba, Beautifully set on the stunning South African coast, Themba tells the inspiring story of a boy who braves the battlefield of African reality to discover that anything is possible. Themba, a gifted youth from the Eastern Cape, dreams of becoming a soccer star. But, the reality of life in his round-hut village, fraught with economic hardship and an unstable home, could not be further from his ambitions. Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E.
