Ever wonder what happens to all the props theaters use in their productions? Some are given away and on Saturday, May 6, 2017, Goodman Theatre will host a prop giveaway for the Chicagoland theater community that includes select prop and set pieces from past Goodman productions. Items are offered free of charge, and all must be taken immediately with no previews available prior to the sale. The props giveaway will take place at Goodman Theatre’s Scene Shop on May 6th (363 W. Pershing Road) starting at 9am until 1pm (or while supplies last).
The event is free, however, Goodman will accept donations in any amount ($10 suggested minimum) for Season of Concern, a service organization of the Chicago theater community.“The Chicago theater community is incredibly collaborative and supportive of one another, and we are proud to give back in this way,” Goodman Theatre production manager Scott Conn said in a statement. “Our last giveaway in 2014 was an enormous success, with everything gone in only 90 minutes. We hope to see as many of our peers again.” All items at the giveaway must be taken immediately and include props from “King Lear” and “Brigadoon.” Parking will be available on site.
