Chicago Weekend: The Ravenswood Art Walk

Enjoy the fall weather while getting to know local artists at the 16th Annual Ravenswood ArtWalk.   Over 16 years, RAW has grown into what it is today; an dynamic celebration of arts and industry that features over 300 artists and 50 attractions, while placing special focus on the diverse talents of the Ravenswood Corridor. This year’s walk kicks off on Sept 16-17 with local beer, wine and food.    The ArtWalk runs along Ravenswood Ave from Leland south to Irving Park, with open studios, artists in buildings, musical performances and live demonstrations. All businesses are open from 11-6PM. At the center of the festival is the outdoor RAW Street Fest, which features two stages of live music, artists in tents, Begyle Brewing’s craft beer garden, a food truck roundup and children’s activities. Get familiar with the venues below, plan you’re route, and we’ll see you this weekend!

RAW’s musical lineup boasts great local acts Sports Boyfriend, V.V. Lightbody and others. $5 suggested donation. 11-6 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. 1770 W. Berteau, along Ravenswood from Irving Park to Leland Avenue. http://ravenswoodartwalk.org/

“I think the goal of the Ravenswood ArtWalk is to get the community invested and interested in artists and the creativity that is happening in our own backyard. That’s something that Lillstreet Art Center is founded on and has been promoting since its inception.” – Kate Bek, Marketing & Communications Director at Lillstreet Art Center.    On 9/16 and 9/17 Ravenswood’s artists and artisans open their doors to Chicago for the Ravenswood ArtWalk Tour of Arts & Industry. Lillstreet is the heart of our neighborhood’s vibrant arts scene, offering studio space, arts classes, galleries and regular exhibitions, artist residencies and more. Make plans to explore all that Lillstreet has to offer over RAW weekend!

The businesses along the Ravenswood Corridor will then open their doors to showcase local art. A rest stop will be set up at Ravenswood and Berteau where art walkers can take a break to listen to live music, drink craft beer and grab a bite from food trucks. The Ravenswood ArtWalk Detour will be open Saturday from 12:00pm – 9:00pm & Sunday from 12:00pm – 7:00pm.   Those participating in the Ravenswood ArtWalk will include District home furnishings, Viva Vintage Clothing, Gayle Weiss Designs, Grunewald Ceramics, Cultivate a Hobby photography, Wilson Creek Pottery, moss architecture and many more.
