Calling all fearless Chicago weather warriors! Brave the frigid waters of Lake Michigan this weekend in Chicago at the 18th annual Polar Plunge benefiting the Special Olympics Chicago.
In the last several years, the Chicago Polar Plunge has become one of the most popular events in Chicago, with participation from Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the cast of Chicago Fire and Chicago PD, “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon, actor Vince Vaughn, Chicago Bears players, and musician/artist Lady Gaga.
Registration is now open for the 13th annual Chicago Polar Plunge, benefiting Special Olympics Chicago. The Chicago Polar Plunge, one of the largest fundraising events for Special Olympics Chicago, will take place Sunday, March 4, 2018 on Chicago’s icy lakefront at North Avenue Beach from 9:30 am – 2 pm. This year, Special Olympics Chicago is aiming to make a ‘big splash’ by surpassing all previous fundraising records for the Chicago Polar Plunge, and reaching the $1,000,000 mark.
Think you’re fun? Take the test! Last year more than 2,000 spirited people participated at this unique and memorable event! Whether you go knee high, waist high or take the full plunge, all are welcome to attend! Each participant is asked to raise a minimum of $150 to support the programs enjoyed by our nearly 5,000 Special Olympics Chicago athletes throughout the year. Plungers will receive a souvenir t-shirt and a warm towel when exiting the water! It’s quick and easy to set up your personal fundraising page. You will receive a link that you can send to friends and family so that they can make a secure online tax deductible donation. All online donors will receive an immediate acknowledgement and receipt thanking them for their support! Just click on the link in the right margin to get started.
