
On August 20 at 6:30pm in the Pritzker Pavilion, prominent members of the Great Black Music Ensemble will honor Fred Anderson, an important father of Chicago’s creative music scene, with original arrangements in a free concert.

Looking to some fun free things to do in Chicago? Join one of the River North Saturday free gallery tours organized by the CADA and these free tours occur every Saturday morning (except major holiday weekends) and meet at 11:00 am at the Starbucks located at 750 N. Franklin. The free tours lasts until about 12:30 pm, and take you on a different journey to some of Chicago’s finest art galleries each week. Maps will be provided and the gallery owners will be delighted to answer questions and offer insights into the latest exhibits. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. On August 22, the tours will be led by Melanee Cooper Gallery and the Galleries on the Tour include:

Although its not free ($5), the North Side Summerfest at Lincoln and Irving Park (NSS) ranks with the top festivals in Chicago, with more than 20,000 expected to attend. AS summer fades, this weekend will give summer a rockin’ send-off, with a full lineup of the area’s best bands, a wide selection of arts and crafts northside-summer-festand a mouth-watering array of food and drinks from all corners of the city. NSS is about as much fun as you could safely pack into three days.

The Free Night of Theater program is celebrating its 5th anniversary on October 15, 2009 and they will be giving away more than 75,000 free theater tickets in more than 120 cities, including free theater ticket sin Chicago..
