This year marks the 115th anniversary of the birth of the modern Olympic Movement. Each year on June 23, the world honors the enduring Olympic spirit by staging events and celebrations. The entire country has rallied around Chicagos bid and the prospect of bringing the Games back to the United States: more than 100 U.S. cities will be showing their support for the Movement with festivities featuring athletic events and appearances by Olympians and Paralympians.

Party at St. Mike’s

For the 25th consecutive year, Party at St. Mikes will shift Chicagos summer festival season into high gear with three nights of heart-pounding live entertainment, June 12 through 14 outside of St. Michaels church in Old Town. Chicagos annual commemoration of our nations independence is nothing short of spectacular. The Independence Eve celebration will take place on Friday, July 3 at Taste of Chicago. Mayor’s Cup Youth Soccer Tournament

Families and friends are invited to participate in the 16th Annual Mayors Cup Youth Soccer Tournament (advance registration required for team participation). One of the largest youth soccer tournaments in the United States, This FREE tournament takes place in Lincoln Park at Montrose Harbor.

Venetian Night

Approximately 35 boats will be decorated with lights and props as they sail along beautiful Lake Michigan, between the Shedd Aquarium at Roosevelt Road and the Chicago Yacht Club at Monroe Street. People of all ages stake out spots along the lakefront as early as 9 am to ensure a good view of the event.
