This week, the MCA’s Tuesdays on the Terrace features a free jazz concert from Chicago saxophone legend Fred Anderson from 5:30–8pm. The outdoor terrace overlooking the sculpture garden will come alive as veteran jazz saxophonist, Fred Anderson, performs his own distinctive and soulful style on July 28. A leader of Chicago’s saxophone community, Anderson co-founded the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM) and owns local jazz club, Velvet Lounge, where many musicians have launched their careers.
Every Tuesday, there is free admission to the museum and it stays open late, until 8pm.
For a more casual evening, bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic on the sculpture garden lawn with classic burgers and hot dogs from MCA’s outdoor grill. Cold beverages, wine, and seasonal cocktails are available from the cash bar on the lower terrace of the sculpture garden.
