To make flu shots as convenient as possible for all city residents, the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) will offer flu shots at over 50 convenient sites, accessible by public transportation, throughout the city. Flu shots are offered free of charge at CDPH sites. However, senior citizens should bring their Medicare cards to the flu shot site. With more than 50 clinic locations in the city giving free shots, the Chicago Department of Public Health increased the number of sites at which residents can receive the shots this year. 
The shots are available to everyone during the health department’s vaccination drive, which begins Tuesday October 12 and runs through Dec. 3 at sites across the city, though senior citizens should bring their Medicare cards. And for the first time, people can get flu shots at any CVS pharmacy, as all locations will be carrying the vaccinations. Expanded guidelines, released Sept. 27 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, recommend that everyone over the age of 6 months get vaccinated for the flu. Previously, the CDC recommended that only children under 18 and adults over 65 years of age get vaccinated, and the expansion spurred flu shot providers into action. “This is the first year that all 50 states are allowing pharmacies to vaccinate for the flu,” said Mike DeAngelis, director of public relations for CVS pharmacy operations.
