Every Friday, the Chicago Swing Dance Society holds the FREE Java Jive, its own weekly free swing dance venue. Founded in 1995, Java Jive is currently the longest running Lindy Hop event in Chicago. Java Jive started in the Reynolds Club C-Shop on 57th and University, 
and in late 1999 was moved to its current location at Ida Noyes Hall on 59th and Woodlawn to accomodate growing attendance. Java Jive has been and will always be free for both students and the public. Some of the city’s best DJs hold court weekly at Java Jive, continuing the tradition of outstanding music.
