Visit the Brookfield Zoo’s Children’s Zoo at noon on Thanksgiving Day (Nov 24), and you can help the zoo keepers feed animals, including reindeer, llamas, goats, pigs, cows, ducks, geese, chickens, a miniature horse, and a miniature donkey. Just meet the zoo keepers at the windmill in Children’s Zoo. Afterwards guests can watch as keepers feed some of the not-so-tame animals like the hawks, raven, owls, striped skunk and raccoons.
Free general zoo admission is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, including Thanksgiving Day, through the end of February and the Children’s Zoo is free through February 29, 2012. Also, beginning in January and through the end of February, admission is also free on Sundays and Saturdays. Brookfield Zoo is at First Ave. between Ogden Ave. and 31st St., Brookfield. Metra stop is Hollywood. 866-GoToZoo or 800-201-0784. www.czs.org.
