Free PopUp 3-D Printing Lab in Chicago

The Chicago Public Library is opening a Maker Lab next month. The creative space will offer free access to new technology and creative tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters and various design software. It’s the first effort of the library’s Innovation Lab, a program that aims to bring new technologies to Chicago residents at no cost. Through free access to otherwise expensive equipment and software, the program’s purpose is to equip the city’s residents with skills for 21st century manufacturing while promoting the exchange of innovative ideas. The space opens July 8 at the city’s Harold Washington Library main branch and will remain open for six months.
