Free Summer Workouts in Millennium Park

It is almost time for summer in the city and that means free Summer Workouts in Millennium Park in downtown Chicago.  This year’s free summer workouts begin on June 1 and runs through Sept. 3.  The city provides instructors and music during yoga and Pilates, and drumming during Zumba classes.    The free program, which started in 2005, and in 2014, the program was expanded to Wednesdays.  “We have dozens, if not hundreds, of regulars who come to the workouts,” said Jamey Lundbland, director of marketing and communications at the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events. “The setting cannot be beat. It’s on the great lawn with the trellis overhead and Pritzker Pavilion’s sort of facing you, and the skyline is around you. The setting is beautiful.”

 

All classes are free and attendees should bring their own equipment, including water.

This year’s lineup includes yoga, cardio workouts, Pilates, Zumba and tai chi.
