Chicago has it all: From tacos and tequila to zines and Gospel music, there’s no pigeonholing Chicago’s festival season. The season has kicked off, and we are on our way to weekends full of food, music, art and—of course—beer for the next five months. Grab your fanny packs, your wide-brimmed hats and your stacks of cash and head to the new festivals happening this summer in the Windy City.


Andersonville Midsommarfest

One of Chicago’s most legendary street festivals and Andersonville’s quintessential yearly celebration, Andersonville Midsommarfest, returns for its 52nd year in 2017. Born out of Andersonville’s Swedish heritage, Midsommarfest will transport you back to the old-world Swedish traditions.



Fiesta Back of the Yards

Fiesta Back of the Yards is a Free event that celebrates the community’s diversity and heritage. This three-day festival features live music, dance groups, cultural performances and over 100 vendors selling merchandise, food and beverages.

One of our favorites, the 69th Old Town Art Fair is one of the oldest juried fine art fairs in the country. The Old Town Art Fair offers 250 exhibitors, food for every taste, Kids’ Corner activities, a free Garden Walk and varied musical styles including folk, jazz and blues.



Pilsen Food Truck Social

A reflection of the eclectic hood each year is the Pilsen Food Truck Social, when over 25 of Illinois’ most popular food trucks roll up onto 18th street armed with mobile delicacies galore (right outside of legendary live music venue Thalia Hall).



Wells Street Art Festival
