Opaa! It’s time again for the annual Taste of Greektown Celebration hosted by the Greektown SSA. Saturday August 26th from 12:00pm to 11:00pm and Sunday August 27th from 12:00pm to 11:00pm. Everyone is invited to celebrate all things Greek. Known as Chicago’s Ultimate Greek Fest, the family friendly event will again be hosted on the strip of Halsted Street known as Greektown where the city’s acclaimed Greek restaurants have served guests delicious food for decades.  For two days Halsted Street will be bursting with food, music and fun from Monroe to Van Buren.    The Taste of Greektown is an adventure that offers the sights, sounds and taste that is all Greece.

Stroll Halsted Street in Greektown and sample the fine Greek delicacies that Chicagoans have grown to love. These neighborhood restaurants will be the main attraction serving festival attendees with popular menu items, including Roast Lamb, Pastichio, Moussaka, Gyros, Greek Chicken, Kabobs, Spanakopita and much more!   If you haven’t tried all the famous restaurants on Halsted, this is a great time to sample and taste favorites and specialties that take you throughout Greece and Cyprus.   Stop by Saturday for dance lessons (5 and 7 p.m.) from the Orpheus Hellenic Folklore Society; on Sunday, the troupe performs (8 p.m.). Neighborhood restaurants, including Artopolis, Athena, Roditys and Santorini, sell food and drinks. Other highlights: a gyro-eating contest (6 p.m. Saturday), live music and kids activities.
