FREE World Music Festival in Chicago – Sept 8-24

Come out and enjoy the 19th Annual FREE World Music Festival in Chicago from Sept 8-24th all around the city. The 19th Annual World Music Festival Chicago will take place September 8-24, 2017 and is presented by the City of Chicago. This city-wide, multi-venue, eleven-day festival has attracted over 650,000 concertgoers and has presented more than 650 artists and ensembles from over 80 countries since it began in 1999. The festival is the largest festival of its kind in the United States.  This year’s performers include Underground SystemDr. Lakshminarayana Subramaniam, Mahesh Krishnamurthy,Duo Scofano-MinettiSalif KeitaVox Sambou and more.

 

Among the fantastic performances, visitors can enjoy The 606 Walk + Global Peace Picnic at the Humboldt Park Boathouse from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 17. The event includes performances from Puerto Rican bomba group La Tribu de Abrante. World Music Festival curator, David Chavez, and La Tribu de Abrante visited the ABC 7 State Street Studios to preview their performances at the festival.
