Looking to keep your high school kids busy over for the summer? Local Chicago-based hedge fund manager Citadel LLC and market maker Citadel Securities LLC have expanded free nationwide access to MarketWorks, a FREE digital investment education program.
Citadel developed the self-guided simulation program that teaches high school students about finance and investing. It was launched in 2018 in partnership with education technology specialist EVERFI Inc., Washington, which hosts MarketWorks on its community engagement platform. More than 13,000 students from 325 schools in Chicago, Dallas and New York have completed the program since its inception.
“We are passionate about providing educational opportunities in finance that open pathways for success,” said Gerald A. Beeson, Citadel’s chief operating officer and MarketWorks’ executive sponsor, in a Citadel news release. “MarketWorks has already expanded financial understanding … and we are proud to bring this program to students, families and schools across the country, especially during this time when it is needed more than ever.”
Citadel and Citadel Securities will award 30 college scholarships to high school students who complete MarketWorks this year and submit an essay about what they learned.
