Free Thursdays at Shedd Aquarium For Illinois Residents Starting Tomorrow

Looking for something to do on Thursdays in Chicago?  Why not check out Chicago’s  Shedd Aquarium who just announced that Illinois residents can get FREE ADMISSION to the aquarium every Thursday in August, starting from August 8th.

So mark your calendar now! \Illinois residents can check it out on August 5, 12, 19, and 26.  In addition to the free admission, the aquarium will offer extended hours on the select free days for additional access to the aquatic animal world. On the free admission days, the Shedd will be open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.

The FREE DAYS official release says guests need to do is book a reservation and bring proof that they are an Illinois resident.  Our Illinois Resident Free Days include access to all open animal and permanent exhibits, our special exhibit Underwater Beauty and seasonal Stingray Touch. Tickets need to be secured ahead of a visit online or by phone and free entry will now be permitted to guests who walk up without a reservation. When at the aquarium “all adults must provide proof of residency in-person when redeeming tickets at the discounted rate.” This can be a valid state ID or driver’s license with proof of Illinois residence.

To take advantage of Shedd’s free admission dates, tickets must be secured either online or by phone. Free admission will not be granted to guests who walk up without a reservation.  To reserve tickets and find the latest COVID-19 guidelines, visit the Shedd Aquarium website.

The official release also stated that there are “stringent safety measures in place to create a safe and enriching experience with the aquatic world, and we ask that all guests do the same for the safety of our staff and other guests.”
